Hive Mind--Input Requested, Please?

Hive mind:

When buying a work of art from an independent artist, does a story explaining the piece make it mean more to you than just your appreciation of the piece?

Is the background information in the online listing enough?
Would a printed card accompanying the piece when you received it be appreciated?
Would you prefer a handwritten note explaining the piece and thanking you for your patronage?

Thanks!

Yes! That would be very nice. Personally I really like that.

I rarely have the funds to buy art in any form, but my parents liked and bought paintings by Grayden Mayer. He'd always make sure a 3x5 card went along with his paintings. I remember one purchase my parents made. The painting is a watercolor called 'Bluebells along the Susquehanna River". The card talked about how Mr Mayer lived near that river and always looked forward to the spring and the bluebells. =) I keep it with the painting.
